Older people and sunshine

Older people need a sunny window

Older people need air and the sun. Understanding the needs of seniors is imperative since we all want them to feel comfortable and satisfied. When people get older, personal hygiene can be a real challenge. At a certain point in life, every person needs help from another person when it comes to personal care and hygiene.

To make sure, your parent or grandparent receives the proper care; you can leave it in the hand’s professionals.

Depending on the age and the health condition, every senior wants to stay in their home.

To remain in the home, they love where they can feel relaxed and just be themselves. Their place should be quiet, with a sunny window, preferably facing a garden. The bed should be covered with a material that is easy to clean.

The rooms of older people should be bright and sunny.

Why is this so important? It has a beneficial effect on the whole organism and also, the light from the sun has a disinfection power that can destroy bacteria and prevent their growth. The brightness helps maintain cleanliness in the place because illuminating the dark corners allow you to see collected dirt and dust making sure they are being removed properly.

Room temperature

The best temperature for them is between 16 to 20 degrees Celsius. But if they feel cold, you must find the ideal temperature for them.

Fresh air has a calming effect on every person.

During ventilation, older people must be covered with a blanket especially if the individual is sensitive to cold. If their bed is near the window and the air is too cool, make sure you prevent the cold coming directly into them. The rooms of older people must frequently be ventilated. During spring and summer, the windows must always be opened in the mornings and before bed.

The rooms of seniors must always be clean.

Older people are much more sensitive to allergies, microorganisms, and bacteria. Their place needs to be cleaned every day making sure they sleep in a place that is safe for them.

The proper hygiene of seniors depends on many things. If you contribute to making their environment clean and healthy you can, be sure that they will be living a happy and fulfilled life.
