If you know someone who finds it difficult to get out of the bed, you can think about giving a bed bath.

With the bed bath, you would want to clean the entire body or a specific part of the body. However, there are some steps that you will need to follow. Here is a list of some of the key steps that you will have to go through.

You will need certain supplies for the bed bath.

It is important for you to have a clear understanding about the supplies that are required to provide the bed bath. You will need to have at least two different water basins, where one can be used to wash clothes and the other to clean the body. The other supplies that you would need to have when giving a sponge bath include soap, deodorant, lotion, sponge, bath towel, clean clothes and a lightweight blanket.

 

How to prepare for giving a bed bath

First, you will need to get all the supplies close to the bed. Then you will need to close the windows and turn up the heat to keep the room warm. You will need to fill up one of the water basins that you have with water. However, you need to be careful that the water is not too hot. Then you will need to place the towels under the person to keep the bed dry. You can assist the person to undress by covering the body with a towel or a blanket. Then you can keep that blanket or towel over that person until you finish the sponge bath.

 

How to give a bed bath

Now you have come to the most important step, which is about giving the bed bath. Make sure that the person will never fall out of the bed. You just need to wet the sponge with some soap and gently wipe the body. Continue washing and drying the face, neck, and ears of the person. Clean one side of the body starting from head to toe. Then repeat the same process on the other side. After that, bathe the feet, legs, hip, hand, arm and shoulders. However, you need to change the bath water before you clean genitals.
