Our featured pet of the month is one of our own.
One of our pets is a six-year-old terrier- Pomeranian named Silvia. She is our service care companion. We take her to most client visits.
The Roseberry Care Home provides a nonclinical, homelike environment for seniors. Residents reside in comfort that feels just like home. Everybody at the Roseberry care home knows Silvia. She’s happy and spunky and likes to say hello to all her friends.
Most of us have had pets at some point in their lives.
The simple act of holding a dog can lower blood pressure, and heart rate. For some elderly folk, pets are all they have. They are like their children they are forever loyal, and they don’t talk back. When senior reminisce they almost always talk about their Spouse or their spouses, their jobs, places they have been.
They also speak of their children where they were married and last but not least their pets.
Alison remembers hers three terriers named Buddy Titus and Lu Lu. Two males and a female Lu Lu of course. She tells us of the joy and fond memories she has of them. She remembers how they were also a comfort to her when times were not so good. And she tells of the heartbreak when they die as well.
Alison remembers the three of them playing together as puppies and how they competed for her attention while playing ball.
