Who will care for me? Assets & Aging

Assets & Aging man with bag of money

Assets & Aging “Affording the Future.”

My husband and I attended a seminar at the Crown Plaza in Sacramento. The speaker was Bob Scrivano. He is an independent senior care planning consultant.

He also hosts a radio show “Assets and Aging” every Sunday morning on KFBK, 1530 AM at 4:00 am. The broadcast has been airing since 1998.

As the owners of ActiveCare In Home Services.

We provide home care for seniors that enable them to stay in their home. We attend educational seminars and pass the information on to our clients.

The seminar had two themes, who will take care of me? How will I pay for it?

Some of the great keynotes were “what specific things have you done to make sure you can stay in your home?” Make a list.

How long will the money last?

Who will take care of me in my home? And how long can I stay in my home? These are all questions to ask yourself. And discuss with all family members involved in your care planning.

The next important keynote was a medical power of attorney or durable power of attorney. A living trust in place with persons named as executor, successor, and trustee in the current estate plan.

Does the trust give complete authority to manage financial affairs?

Does it pay long-term care expenses? The beneficiary designations of all retirement plans and life insurance policies, the revocable living trust.

Many times as Bob talked about families that don’t discuss these topics.

So what happens mom falls ill and cannot stay in their home.

All their assets financial affairs, accounts, real estates, savings and checking accounts have not ever been discussed.

Who is in place to make these decisions, Who is a power of attorney for their care planning. These are so important to put in place as soon as possible.

After attending this seminar, I called my mother just to make sure she had everything in place.

We will be attending future seminars Assets & Aging and continue to educate ourselves with senior care planning to educate and inform our senior clients and their families.

“We have been so pleased with you and the care you have shown us, our family, and my parents. You have been so helpful and genuine, and have always been there in our time of need. We had some very good and qualified caregivers, and I thank you for that. Thank you for working with us, so hard, to get CalPERS up and going and correcting all the mistakes they have made over the years. You guys have gone through a lot with us. Thank you again, for your kindness, professionalism, and care!” – Donna B.
“ActiveCare watched over my stepfather while I was at work. The caregiver was punctual and knew how to react to his moods. She did light housework, bathed and fed him, and made sure he took his medicine. Great personality. Very trustworthy. Best price for the exceptional care she gave him.” – Bettina
“We are grateful for your services and would like to offer a positive reference on behalf of our family.” – Deloris
